Cypriot companies benefit from a particularly low corporate tax rate of 12.5%. Dividend tax is 0%.

Tax exemption on the sale of shares.

The Republic of Cyprus is a former British colony and current member state of the European Union. It is located in the Mediterranean Sea, bordered by Turkey (to the south), Syria (to the west) and Kastellorizo (a Greek island to the east), with a population of 1.2 million. The capital, the financial center of Cyprus, is Nicosia. Its official languages are Greek and Turkish, although English is widely spoken due to former British colonial rule.

The euro (EUR) became its official currency in 2008, with its economy heavily dependent on the service sector (which accounts for 4/5 of the country’s GDP). Tourism is the main part of the country’s service sector, with around two (2) million visitors each year; finance and asset management are also important service sectors.

Cyprus is one of Europe’s most favorable environments in which to start or establish a company; it is considered a gateway to the European common market due to its favorable tax policies, economy and foreign investment laws.

It is chosen by many non-European companies and serves as an investment gateway from the Western world to Russia, the Middle East, Asia and South America. Cyprus is also a shipping hub, with the fourth largest shipping registry in the world and a major source of revenue. The Republic of Cyprus exports citrus fruits, cement, potatoes, clothing and pharmaceutical products.

Many entrepreneurs/businessmen are eager to set up a cross-border company in Europe (in or near the European Union) in Cyprus, but it is important to know that Cyprus is not a cross-border zone in Europe (in or near the European Union) in the traditional sense, as Cypriot companies must undergo the state registration process, submit financial statements and hold annual shareholders’ meetings.

  1. Cyprus has a solid international reputation.
  2. It has signed double taxation agreements with 60 countries.
  3. Cyprus’ financial statements are submitted in accordance with international standards.
  4. Cyprus has one of the lowest corporate tax rates in Europe.
  5. Many categories of expenditure can be allocated on a cost basis.
  6. Extremely favorable conditions for the development of holding companies (there is no consolidation tax, and the activity of a Company in Europe is not regulated).
  7. No tax on international/external dividends, capital gains or income from the sale of securities.
  8. Simplicity of operation and low cost of maintaining the company.
  9. If the foreign experts of a Cyprus company work outside the jurisdiction, they pay income tax ranging from 0% to 2%.
  10. The non-resident of Cyprus, who is the successor to the estate, is not subject to tax.
  11. Losses can be carried forward to subsequent tax periods until covered by income.
  12. Enhanced privacy protection for shareholders.

Our service is to put you in touch with the bank, not to open a bank account*. The bank has the sole right to decide whether or not to open a bank account* (art. L. 312-1, II CMF).
